Fred Crompton was born in 1910 Lancashire, England, to Harold Crompton and Sarah Bates-Crompton. The earth passes through the tail of Comet Halley. Fred married Mary Connor in 1938, the year Howard Hughes set a new record by completing a 91-hour airplane flight around the world.
