Charles Thomas Barr, (a twin with Rosa "Rose" Lee Barr), was born 3/30/1870 in Shackelford, Missouri, on the farm of his parents Thomas Barr and Mary Grant-Barr. That year, John D. Rockefeller incorporated Standard Oil, and construction began the Brooklyn Bridge.

Charles remained on the farm, and married Harriette C. Thompson on 1/20/1903 in Shackelford, Missouri at Immaculate Conception Church, with attendants Agnes Flynn and Warren Venable. He brought his bride to the house, and their first four children were born there. The family then moved to another home, where seven more children were born. One of them, (son Walter), inherited the farm, and has also kept it in the Barr family.

Charles Thomas Barr died in Marshall, Missouri, 4/16/1947, and Harriette passed 10/12/1949. Both are buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Marshall, MO.
